Abstract: The objective of this research work was to present an artificial vision technique applied to the detection of characteristics in the development of broccoli crops. For the development of the system a Survey 2 camera was included, which has a dual band filter that reflects the red light in the red channel of the sensor, red, green, blue (RGB) and reflects near infrared light in the blue channel of the RGB sensor The camera was adapted to an unmanned aerial vehicle and for its safety, coupled by a structure, which was designed in the SolidWorks program and built in a 3D printer. The programming algorithm was performed in the Matlab programming language, which consists of the digital processing of the spectral image, which bases its operation on the pigment (chlorophyll) in the leaves of the plant strongly absorbs the visible light for its use in photosynthesis and the cellular structure of the leaves, on the other hand, strongly reflects near infrared light. The more leaves a plant has, the more wavelengths of light are affected respectively, which is why the purpose was to create a relationship between a spectral image taken at an ideal height and the object to study (broccoli). Once the photographs were acquired with the camera, the photographs were downloaded to a computer for later processing, obtaining the standardized difference vegetation index (NDVI), allowing to determine the quantity, quality and development of the images. plants. The system has been tested in different broccoli crops in the province of Cotopaxi, yielding the expected results. It is recommended to expand research with the development of software capable of automatically detecting sectors with depressed vegetation through the use of spectral indicators.
